What Is A Web Software Solution?
            Contrary to a general belief that a web software solution can only be used where there is the presence of a good Internet connection, Web Software simply means-- A software product accessed with a standard web browser without the aid of other software on the user-side computer that runs the browser. Examples of browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla firefox, Smart browser, Opera and so on. So, one could call Web software products browser-native software applications. When I say browser-native, I mean no user side software is required to run the application but only a web browser.

            Web software is installed on a single computer (Server) and is used to serve people on many computers. The location of the server computer can be one thousand miles away, on a web server on the Internet or inside your office. So, what a user requires is just a connection to the server through any kind of medium, permission to use the software by the server and the browser to connect and run the user-side of the application.

Why Web Version?
            Web solutions is gradually taking the center stage is many software solutions that requires say – more than 5 user computers – because of its many advantages. Examples of such environments are banks, corporate offices, etc. Many of the advantages are:

1. Hardware Requirement – Many network solutions has proven to require higher hardware power to run effectively. But with a web software solution, any computer capable of doing a normal Internet browsing can be used to run the user-side of any web application. This means, a simple Pentium 1 CPU or its equivalent can be made a client in a web software environment. (Although bigger and faster computer enables faster Internet browsing and so increases performance of a web solution.)
2. Easy to maintain – Maintenance in a web software environment is far easier. Any tweaking, Interface/functionality changes and other maintenance processes only need to be done on the server. Whereas enterprise-wide PC software requires enterprise-level IT supports, Web software does not.
3. Deployment – Web software frees you from most of the PC world's upgrade, security, and deployment problems. For instance, a simple client-server application will require upgrading all the clients and server with a simple necessary upgrade while with a web solution it is not. Also in deployment, no client side software or upgrade is necessary to be part of the system.
4. Heterogeneous and flexibility – Any PC, be it Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh or any Linux distribution client can be used to run a client side of a web application. They can also be old or new. This allows varying degree and model of computer system on the same network used to run a user side of web software.

THE SCHOOL MANAGER
        PASIT SCHOOL MANAGER is a customized solution for schools to automate their work. It provides an efficient and easy way to manage mundane and exotic activities. We create solutions that understand the unique needs and requirements of all types of schools, public and private, elementary to secondary. The software at the moment is in 2 versions;

1. Version 1 build 2
   • Platform Compatibility: Microsoft Windows only

2. Version 2 (web version)
   • Platform compatibility: Ms Windows, MacOs, Linux, Unix etc.
   • Languages Used: ASP.net, VB.net, C#.net, AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), Crystal report, ADO.net etc.
   • Database: SQL Server family

          The version 2 is made to be more robust and by far larger than version 1.  Its various components such as HR Management system, Accounts Management system, Hostel Management system, Students Results Management system and so on are made to be able to work as stand alone applications thus making the school software a “software suite”.
Below is the list of its main component parts.

1. Online payment System (for online deployment option) – This feature of our school software solution enables parents and guardian to pay for school fees and other required payments on the internet using the any Bank’s ATM card. With this, any ATM could be used to make payments and payments could be made at any period of the day. Other benefits includes:
   • Payments can be made from anywhere in the world at any convenient period of the day.
   • Security of transaction is guaranteed because it is completely managed by the ATM card company and it is “hacker proof”.
   • Any ATM card can be used to make payments.
   • Removes the risk of travel or transportation.
   • Complete transparency and accountability. Every payment goes directly into the school’s stated account(s).
2. Students are enrolled once, and then placed in a new class each school year until they leave. Information on classes, time-tables etc, is maintained independently for each school year. Conditions for promotion to higher levels are maintained automatically by the software depending on the school’s set policies and guidelines. The application entries entered during admission could be automatically used for registration etc., and is also editable.
3. Information is stored relating to student's activities, teachers’, parents’, address, emergency and others. This information needs to be filled only once and can be updated according to need.
4. School administration can then monitor fees collections and the total amount realized over a particular period. Auditing is therefore made easier for the software logs every transaction (who authorized what).
5. Discipline of student is managed according to session. This could be gotten through teacher’s comments or any method of choice which will be bundled with the software. Detailed attendance of the students can be sent to the parent / guardians’ phones (GSM, CDMA or any other phones located in any location all over the world and has capabilities to receive text messages) or email addresses if required. 
6. Attendance details are stored for each student commencing from session start. Compulsory attendance limit can be set for classes. Software automatically calculates total attendance and required attendance.
7. Old student records can be retrieved whenever desired. Different searching criteria can be set to select desired record.
8. Powerful search features allow you to find information about student or staff within no time. Also this feature allows a comprehensive tracking of payment transactions and debts.
9. Security features are kept in mind while developing the software. Administrator can assign privileges to other users. Administrator can restrict privileges such as Fee collection or assign grades to certain member of staffs or others. Read only; Write only and Read-Write privileges can be allocated to staffs. This can be set to be configured by the principal staff or any other staff assigned this responsibility. Assigning access is made to be as easy and can be understood by any window user. (an edge over other software in this category)
10. Customized reports are available about student's progress each year. Transcripts, grading, discipline, attendance, leave, applications format can be printed whenever required with all desired information automatically included according to each school.
11. There are also features that can be used to send progress report of a student’s academic performance, disciplinary related records, payments reminders, notice of PTA meeting and other information as e-mails or text messages on phones to parents and guidance at set intervals. The e-mail option is added only if the school is online and is desired. By default, the software can allow parents to log in through the internet to check updates about their children. Each parent will have the privilege to only access information on his/her child only.
12. Ease in Administration of the school generally from staff productivity to finances. This helps the school authority to keep tab of events and progress more efficiently.
